The basic working principle of the hovercraft is that the spacecraft blows air under the spacecraft by a central propeller, inflates the enveloping skirt made of soft material, and takes off the ship with an air carrier.

When the air pressure on the enveloping skirt is high enough, the ship is lifted. Air escapes from the middle of the spacecraft, between the enveloping skirt and the ground, creating an additional lift and reducing friction between the hovercraft and the ground.

Assembly of UNO based RC hovercraft

Start by installing the servo used to change the direction of thrust to the blower housing. Secure with two M2 bolts and nuts.

Next is to install a brushless motor. The specific model used is the D2830, with a diameter of 28 mm to 30 mm long, and the housing is designed to fit this motor.

When inserting the motor here, first let the wires pass through the opening. It’s a bit tight, but it’s still passable. Then on the back, using M3 bolts, secure the motor to the housing.

Next, it is possible to merge the thrust casing with the body of the hovercraft. This part has an opening so that the wires of the servo and motor can pass through

After completion, proceed to install the second brushless motor to the hull of the hovercraft. Use the same method above. First, the motor is secured through the opening through the wires, and then the motor is fixed with four M3 bolts on the back.

Next comes the electronic hardware part. The electronic components will actually be placed between the hull and the hovercraft body, and through the circuit diagram, we can see how each part of the module needs to be connected.

In fact, the brain of this spaceship ship is an arduino board. With the Arduino, we can easily control the servo as well as two brushless motors using two electronic speed controllers or ESC. For powering the BLDC motor, I will use a 3S Li-Po battery, which provides about 11V, and for arduino, we can use the regulated 5V that ESC provides through their battery elimination circuit feature
